  • June 21st - France’s National Music Festival - France’s national festival of music. For over 20 years, France has celebrated professional and amateur musicians by encouraging a truly people-centred festival.
  • Saturday June 26th - Les 25 km de Miquelon The widely popular Miquelon Marathon - This race takes place between Langlade and Miquelon. People from all over the world come to participate, either by foot, roller blades, or bicycle. After the race there is a celebration organized with an enormous barbecue, live music and dance.   • July 10th to 16th, Route Halifax Saint-Pierre - 5th bi-annual edition of the Route Halifax Saint Pierre Ocean Race on July 10 2010. www.routehalifaxsaintpierre.com
  • July 14th, Bastille Day - Website: mairie-stpierre.fr - The 14th of july is a national holiday to celebrate the end of the French revolution. This holiday has become very popular and visitors come from far and wide for this occasion. There is musical animation, games for all ages with prizes to be won and a variety of different food stands. Among the many activities on this special day is the evening fireworks display.   • August 8th, Miquelon Seafood Festival - Sea Food Festival, Miquelon - Organized by the local soccer association, A.S.M., the 21st anniversary of the famous Festival des produits de la mer, or Sea Food Festival features a gathering of over 450 people who get to eat a wide variety of dishes cooked by locals using their unique and time tested recipes. All cooks are volunteers and will also offer a great assortment of French style desserts. You are most welcome to join un this August 9th in Miquelon.
  • August 14th to 22nd - The Basque Festival - The Basque Festival in August is marked by numerous games of force. Throughout the day both local and Basque food is available and there is entertainment and refreshments up until late night ad we must not forget the traditional evening ball.


Passport no longer required

Passports

Canadians and foreign nationals holding Canadian identification documents, and entering Saint-Pierre and Miquelon directly from Canada, are exempted from passport and visa requirements for stays of maximum duration of 3 months within a period of 6 months.

List of accepted documents :

1) For adults:

  • citizenship card (for Canadians), permanent resident card (for foreign nationals), driver’s licence, student card, social insurance card issued in Quebec and Ontario, passport (for Canadians)

2) For minors:

  • citizenship card (for Canadians), permanent resident card (for foreign nationals), passport (for Canadians)
  • social insurance card with a photo
  • student card with a photo

Consequently, persons who are not in possession of Canadian identification documents must present a passport, if necessary, with a valid visa.

Canadian Citizens: The French government now requires that all canadian citizens carry a valid passport when travelling to Saint-Pierre et Miquelon.

Other nationalities must provide a valid passport and in some cases a visa will be required.

Welcome to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, a part of France in North America. Come and discover our unique charm, our legendary warmth and - joie de vivre.

Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is located some 800 miles north-east of Boston, and just 12 miles off the southern coast of the island of Newfoundland. We have a rich history that spans some 400 years and includes revolution, war but also prohibition, shipwrecks and seafaring.
